Craigslist Strictly Platonic
All this biking alone is suboptimal as I have no one to share the fun and excitement with, so I posted to Strictly* Platonic on Craigslist to see if I could find a geeky tomboy mountain bike partner who was available during the daytime or week.
* "Strictly" is almost a running gag within the craigslist community, and is generally measured to value "60% of the time".
The strictly platonic list is an interesting one for a guy, because it is the only place on Craigslist you stand any chance whatsoever of meeting someone female. As a bonus, there's no weird dating pressure, and you can just hang out and have a good time.
To that end, I received mail from someone who fit the bill and has every other Friday off, and we introduced ourselves over coffee at Nomad Cafe just a few short blocks from my house. (It's good to have a first meeting in public to size the other person up before they find out where you live and case your property for goodies, right?)
We seemed to get along (at least she let me yammer on for days about all kinds of Beej stuff like diving and caving and she never once fell asleep, and the stuff she was working on was also interesting to me) so we're going to hit some trails on Saturday morning!
The only thing left to decide is which ones? Suddenly I'm partial to China Camp, but the standard Tilden ride could also be good. Also, I've never been to Annadel, but she has.
But we'll sort that out later.
